Rogue Anti-Virus

Everyone who wants to help you get rid of spyware are (of course) ALWAYS trying to help you. Because everyone is trustworthy in the year 2008, we don't have to worry about the evil thoughts of predators prowling the Internet for your information. In a perfect world- companies wouldn't charge you 195 dollars for a notepad and a calculator. In a perfect world- People would come together on the Internet for a mutual exchange of ideas rather than to make money. In a perfect world- You could trust everyone on the Internet to be who and what they say they are. Unfortunately we don't live in that perfect world, we live in a world of Microsoft, Mediacom, and Thieves (we use the names interchangeably.) This is why I've been forced to bring up the issue of rogue anti-virus programs such as: WinAntiVirus Pro, Adware Hunter, CleanX and others.
Why are these not true antivirus programs? Many programs will install malicious software on their installation so so that you feel it is absolutely vital to buy their software. This type of program prey's on middle americans, who usually consider themselves somewhat computer literate- but just enough to know that viruses are bad news for their computers. Sample Messages include VB pop-ups that say "Your computer has been compromised- The only way it can be cleaned is by buying of $50.00 program". A common trick they use to gain access to your computer is button re-direction. For example- No=Yes Yes=Yes Close=Yes Once again this preys on middle america who typically do not use Ctrl+Alt+Del. More to come later- I need sleep.
